Telehealth in Missouri and the Future of Energy

by Mike Ferguson

(St. Charles, MO) – Imagine being seen by a doctor and getting his/her help without actually going to the doctor’s office.

That’s happening in Missouri and the Missouri Telehealth Network is increasing access to medical professionals with technology. Dr. Karen Edison explains how it works and how it’s helping those in under served areas, especially rural ones.

Also, most of us only think about our energy supply when we get the bill each month. It’s not that simple and for much of the state, our energy infrastructure is several decades old.

Josh Campbell from the Missouri Energy Initiative explains why the state needs an updated, long-term plan for energy and what they means to you.

C.O.P.S.: Taking Care of Officers’ Families. Also, How Economic Policies Affect Low Wage Workers

by Mike Ferguson

(St. Charles, MO) – A national organization dedicated to serving the families of fallen law enforcement officers is based in Missouri. And, tragically, they are busy.

Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) is based in Camdenton. Sara Slone explains what they do, the effect they have on families, and why everyone should care even if there are no law enforcement officers in your family.

Also, it’s now common for activists, economists and politicians to debate the minimum wage. What should that rate be and should it actually be what activists call a “living wage”?

Dr. Tawni Farrarini from Lindenwood University’s Hammond Institute for Free Enterprise is a co-author of Common Sense Economics. She explains who benefits from an increased minimum wage and who loses.

US Senate Candidate Tony Monetti (R) and The Freedom Center of Missouri’s Dave Roland.

by Mike Ferguson

(St. Charles, MO) – Campaign season is well underway in Missouri.

This week, we begin our series of candidates for office in statewide elections with Republican Tony Monetti, who is running for the US Senate in hopes of challenging Claire McCaskill (D) in November.

To do that, Monetti will have to win the Republican Primary Election in August. We discuss taxes, regulations on business, national security, and guns among other topics.

Also, elections aren’t the only places changes are made. The Freedom Center of Missouri’s Dave Roland provides updates on some of the cases he’s working on in Missouri and he comments on a case before the US Supreme Court that may have an affect on all Americans. We’re talking about religious freedom and free speech.

How Do Resources for Ex-Offenders Affect You?

by Mike Ferguson

(St. Charles, MO) – Do the crime, do the time. Learn your lesson and move on with your life.

It’s not that easy for many who are sentenced to prison. That’s why Criminal Justice Ministry, ARCHS St. Louis and organizations like them around the state work to help those about to be released from prison and those who have served time.

Criminal Justice Ministry’s Anthony D’Agostino explains why that matters and how it affects everyone, even those of us with no criminal history. Featured in the first segment of the program is a video produced by ARCHS that tells Carl Swope’s story of his criminal past and his work to rebuild his life in a positive way.

Later in the program, Swope joins the conversation in person.
